Ovulation

Hi me and my boyfriend are currently trying to have our first baby. I have been off the depo shot for a year now and have started to have my period somewhat regular. Most of the time just off by a couple of days. Around October I started getting ovarian cyst but I haven't got one In the past two months. I spoke with my doctor and she stated it is very important to know when you ovulate. If my period last about 7 days how can I tell when I'm ovulating. I know it shows on the calendar my expected dates with this app but is there any signs that would help me.
